Nova Science Fiction, Spring 2010… (Eight Acceptances!)

My 7th and 8th acceptances to the long-running print mag, NOVA Science Fiction, will be coming your way next year between Issues #25 and #26.  However, now that NOVA is going into its eleventh year and looking to thicken its pages and increase their circulation(s), I might have two stories in one issue again.  Previous issues would be No. #24.  Yes, I’m in it.  Stay tuned in 2010 for a Dr. Who convention with NOVA SF in the dealer’s area (and a lot of famous Brits), and a time traveling story of mine within their pages.

Cover of Darkness, May 2010… (2nd acceptance)

I’ll be coming your way as a feature author in Sam’s Dot Publishing’s print, and soon-to-be e-publication too, Cover of Darkness.  This would be my second acceptance to the bi-annual anthology magazine.  Edited by Tyree Campbell.  It’s a big old novelette, one filled with nurses and hospitals and monsters and the truth about humanity.  It is also an historical tale.  Atmospherically, it takes place during the height of The Great Depression.  The year 1930, to be exact.

Tales of the Talisman, Fall 2010… (4th acceptance)

Not to be confused with the upcoming Fall 2009 issue, which should be out around Halloween to early November.   That’s Issue #5.2.  I’ve learned I’ll be making my 4th appearance next year in Issue #6.2 — Autumn 2010.  A long way off, but stay tuned to this spot.  Tales of the Talisman.  Edited by David Lee Summers, the magazine has been around for a number of years, features ten to twelve authors per issue, and is published quarterly.  Annual subscriptions also available.

Shelter of Daylight, April 2010… (acceptances)

I don’t know whether to consider this a magazine credit or anthology credit, so mark them as both for now, I suppose.  I’ll have a SF and Fantasy-mixed tale coming to a fairly new bi-annual trade paperback anthology-magazine called Shelter of Daylight by Sam’s Dot Publishing.  They’re published every April and October, with a dash of poetry and art.  Edited by Tyree Campbell.  And yes, this officially puts me on the road to 400 publishing credits sometime in 2010.

Labyrinth Inhabitant, September 2009… (Now Available!)

I’ll have a semi-long story coming soon to an upcoming edition of the online fiction zine, Labyrinth Inhabitant.  A very hard SF market to break into, they’ve featured such fantastic and familiar short story authors as Gareth D. Jones, Kristine Ong Muslim, Robert E. Keller, T.M. Crone, and Patricia Russo.

M-BRANE SF: Issue #9, Fall 2009… (coming soon!)

Slowly catching up, slowly getting there.  My second of three Mars-related stories will appear in M-BRANE SF around the Fall.  Issue #9.  This is my 2nd appearance with them.  They’ve recently released print versions of issues #1 through #5, and No. #6 may already be out.  They are also available via PDF subscription (very affordable!), which I highly recommend checking out.  The publication features many forms of scifi, non-fiction, and analyses of the genre itself.   It has a retro-60’s feel.  Sort of like the pulps.  They’ve featured many familiar names in the SF short fiction arena.

M-Brane SF

M-BRANE SF is not only a PDF and print publication but a regular science fiction news source, too.  One of the ideas they’re juggling around right now is a ‘Shared World’ theme, which might be of interest to genre lovers.

M-BRANE Science Fiction, February 2009… (Coming Soon!)

With Arkham Tales, Atomjack, and Necrography just around the corner, I would have to say that this will probably be my last story acceptance for the year 2008.  I’ll have about 30 stories coming out over the next 12 months to some very fine and familiar publications. However, there’s a new magazine that will be available in print and PDF format come February.  It’s a monthly.  The pay isn’t big, but with subscriptions and good authors that could change.  A very likable venue, too.   Simple looking.  It’s called M-BRANE SF.  It looks very promising, and Christopher Fletcher is an extremely nice editor.  He also does reviews and SF analysis, too.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES/SF REVIEWS:

http://mbranesf.blogspot.com/

I don’t know who the first two issues consist of yet, but since I could not find a banner, I thought this public domain pic of a space shuttle entering the atmosphere would be cool.  In other news…

FRESH BLOOD, my collection from Sam’s Dot Publishing, has currently surpassed the 60,000+ word mark (making it novel-length).  Also, writers have been emailing me in regards to my hiatus rumors.  Other than Sam’s Dot… YES, where smaller genre publications are concerned, 350 publishing credits will mark a form of retirement for me, and 2009 will not only be a year off… but a year of book promotions, outlining projects, direction, new ideas, and most important, change

Happy Holidays everyone.

Aoife’s Kiss #30, September 2009… (10th acceptance)

First, I hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I also hope you braved the Black Friday crowds better than I did.  Next, I’ll have a BRAND NEW story coming to the September 2009 issue — I know, a good ways off — of Aoife’s Kiss (Sam’s Dot Publishing).  This would be my 10th print acceptance to their magazines; I’ve probably published in the area of thirty with them over the years if you include online.  Actually, I’ll have a new story for you in almost every quarterly issue of Aoife’s for some time to come.  Including, to my knowledge, the “special” winter issue.

You can view previous issues of Sam’s Dot magazines by clicking below:

Next, Tiptree-nominated writer-editor Tyree Campbell and Sam’s Dot will ALSO be releasing my debut collection, which has a couple of blurbs at the moment, and is going by the title FRESH BLOOD.  This will be a collection of stories new and old (a lot of new) in the genres of horror and science fiction.  This book has taken over a year of edits, building momentum, and to just carefully compile.  At the moment, I’m clueless as to how many stories will appear in it – it should be around a minimum of 50,000+ words.  But you’ll get a lot of nice variety here, including the kitchen sink.

Tales of the Talisman, September 2009… (3rd acceptance)

I’ll have a brand new tale coming your way in a year from now.  I know, I know.  A long way off.  David Lee Summers will publish me for a third time in the September 2009 issue of TALES OF THE TALISMAN (formerly Hadrosaur Tales, for you old-schoolers).  You won’t want to miss it.  Even though it’s a good ways off, I can’t recommend this magazine enough.

I’ve just been commissioned by Whispering Spirits’ editor, Diana Cacy Hawkins, for a 5th short story run, and this time for a special-themed  Halloween issue. Whispering Spirits is published semi-annually, and its content is based around ghost stories, the supernatural, and the occult.  It’ll be available as a free PDF.

The Willows Magazine, October 2008… (5th acceptance)

I come with yet another brand new tale (going for fourth run as a Feature Author), this one spooky and rather historical — actually, the last few tales I’ve written have been somewhat either a) pre-World War or Neo-Victorian meets Post-Victorian, otherwise b) paranormal and steampunkish in storyline/plot architecture.  Still, stay tuned.  I’ll be in the October 2008 Issue of… THE WILLOWS MAGAZINE.  Edited by Ben Thomas.

Aoife’s Kiss #29, June 2009… (9th acceptance)

I’ll have a brand new story coming to the June 2009 Issue/Edition of AOIFE’S KISS.  Published quarterly by Sam’s Dot Publishing.  This would be my 9th print acceptance with Sam’s Dot (Aoife’s Kiss, Sounds of the Night, and Beyond Centauri).  On top of that, this will also be their 8th Anniversary Issue  – though a long way off, it’ll be a biggie, and you’ll want to pick it up.   I may also appear in the online version, come anniversary time.  Still, expect me in a couple of issues well before that.
