SF REVU reviews Jupiter #22 and Tales of the Talisman…

I received word that SF REVU (www.sfrevu.com), reviewed two magazines featuring stories of mine in it.  For those of you unfamiliar with SF REVU, they’re a web-based publication devoted to SF industry news, reviews, interviews, book plugs, and more.  I see them as a smaller, online version of LOCUS.  Review links, magazine issues, and ordering info below:

I highly recommend reading Jupiter and Tales of the Talisman… Both fine magazines now going into their fifth years with a slight modicum of success.  As for SF Revu, I’ll add them to Author Resources.

Whispering Spirits, Halloween Special… (5th acceptance)

I’ve just been commissioned by Whispering Spirits’ editor, Diana Cacy Hawkins, for a 5th short story run, and this time for a special-themed  Halloween issue. Whispering Spirits is published semi-annually, and its content is based around ghost stories, the supernatural, and the occult.  It’ll be available as a free PDF.

Otherworlds Anthology, SpecFicWorld… (appearances)

On October 1st you can find me at SpecFicWorld in Doyle Wilmoth’s OTHERWORLDS ANTHOLOGY.  There are many other great PDF anthologies at the same place! One such scifi project in the loop is: IT CAME FROM PLANET MARS.  SpecFicWorld is also an excellent resource for finding paying genre markets.

Midnight in Hell: Issue 2.2, Autumn 2008… (appearances)

Another old-schooler in the horror genre (after a few years hiatus and formerly being a print mag), story No. 300 comes to MIDNIGHT IN HELL.  Entitled “Departure Flight”, this story is not for the faint of heart…lol… nah, just kidding.  Seriously though, Midnight in Hell is a fantastically entertaining webzine.  Some big names in the U.S. and UK have appeared there in more recent years: Rhys Hughes, Des Lewis, Willie Meikle, Paul McAvoy, and Amy Grech among others.

The Vampire Manifesto, Issue #1… (appearances)

It would appear I have a short in the premiere edition — available as a free ebook download — of THE VAMPIRE MANIFESTO, Issue #1.  Edited by A.D. Dawson.  It features some spot poetry, too.  If you’re all about vampire fiction, this might be up your alley.  It’s free, so why not give it a try…

Silverthought Press, May 2008… (acceptance)

My most recent acceptance comes to the May update of Silverthought Press Online, and it should last straight through the end of June.  In total, this would be my 59th acceptance with them — yes, that would be correct, fifty-nine — over the past three years.  Silverthought is not only an online webzine and peer review/writing discussion forum, but ALSO an independent publisher of high quality novels and anthologies.  They’re well known for breeding talent in the short story arena.  And they’re now a paying press, too.

The Ranfurly Review, March 2008… (appearances)

Been a while since my last update, but I have been away celebrating a birthday, spending some quality time with family, chopping away at a novella, and just started outlining new and different themes for what will eventually become new and exciting short stories. 

My latest appearance is a free short story, and it comes to an e-publication out of Scotland, edited by Colin Galbraith of the Scruffy Dog Review.  The Ranfurly Review is a non-profit zine, offers quite a bit of overseas exposure, and they have a diverse mix of fiction and poetry.  Some genre, some mainstream, and some experimental.  They’re published on a quarterly basis, and I’m in their second issue.  It’s a downloadable PDF, so why not check them out?

Midnight in Hell, September 2008… (acceptance)

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to snatch a banner, but I found a little pentagram on the web and replaced it with that instead.  However, I am VERY pleased to say that this is acceptance No. 300…  And it comes March 9th 2008 to a well-known horror webzine that first debuted in 1990, only as a small print magazine and, over the years, joined the Internet ranks and featured some 76 writers and stories.  My latest acceptance comes to… Midnight in Hell.

Surprising Stories, Mid 2008… (acceptance)

My latest acceptance comes to a wonderfully entertaining little e-zine filled to the rim with hard science fiction, fantasy, and otherworldly poetry.  Non-fiction and speculative fiction book reviews, too:  Surprising Stories. Their current issue, No. #16, features my pulp asteroid tale: The Doomsday Initiative.

Midnight Times; Darkness e-Zine… (acceptance)

Acceptance No. 295 will come sometime later this year to Editor Jay Manning’s Midnight Times web magazine; A Darkness e-Zine for Creative Minds.  Themed, too.  This would be my second acceptance with the publication — I first appeared four years ago with The Ghouls of Charon, and back then I had only sixty credits to my name (the old bio brought back some fond memories).

In terms of webzines, I would have to say Midnight Times is one of the longest running in  regards to supernatural and traditional horror; articles centered around the paranormal, too.  I first found them listed in the Writer’s Market back in 2004.  Nice to see they’re still around…

Written Word Magazine… (4th acceptance)

I’ve just received my 4th acceptance to Written Word Online Magazine.   Editor Ace Masters, and co-editor Barb McCaffrey, have emailed me to tell me how delighted they are with the work I have submitted to them as of late.  They also seem interested in a 5th tale, and I plan to make the suggested revisions to it for them in the next couple of months.
