Alien Dimensions #27: 100,000 Years of Intergalactic Peace – The Final Edition

I’m pleased to announce that I have a novelette in the final edition of the long-running anthology-magazine from Neil Hogan at Space Fiction Books, Alien Dimensions No. #27. This would be my fourth acceptance to the publication over the years, and this one is for the scifi fanatics out there. But this issue of Alien Dimensions has a theme to it: 100,000 Years of Intergalactic Peace. So the tales have to have some element of promoting or ensuring peace for a civilization. My story is about a solar engineer who attempts to save his own people and another race from across the stars. With permission, of course, from his council. There is world building and conflict. There is hard science and a great plot. What started out as a short story draft back in the 2000s with no direction, ended up close to 8500 words in length in 2025. I’m sharing a TOC with some familiar names, such as David Castlewitz and Mord McGhee (I must know Mord at least 20 years). I’ll leave pics and Amazon info below. I’m pleased to announce that I’m back in one of the San Antonio SF & Fantasy Authors’ association’s print anthologies. Last time it was a book on science fiction and fantasy poetry. This time, it’s an anthology of brand new and exclusive short stories, and edited by C.M. Bratton again. The name of the book (now up on Amazon, and I will provide links and a TOC below): Quaternary Realms Volume #2. My piece could best be described as a tale of somewhat forbidden dinosaur science on a distant Jurassic world. It delves into the realm of “Cretaceous-style hunting and cloning” for sport, and the responsibilities of a veterinarian who has to coexist with giant reptiles. I’m pleased to announce that BARREN WORLDS Science Fiction Anthology is now available. Edited by Eric T. Barren Worlds, SF Anthology… (Author Line-Up!)

I’m pleased to announce that I have an author line-up for Hadley Rille Books’ forthcoming science fiction anthology, BARREN WORLDS.  This is a themed anthology, and it’s about planets or futuristic locales which are barren, empty or, more or less, feature lonely people.  Edited by Eric T. Reynolds (with Adam Nakama), Hadley Rille’s speculative fiction collections and authors have gone on to be nominated or recommended in the past for the Nebula Award.  So their books are worth the cover price, and there’s a lot of stories to choose from.

Barren Worlds, SF Anthology… (coming soon!)

Good news! I finally have some information available on one of those semi-pro anthology credits I got back in December.  If I remember correctly, I think it was no. 285.  The name of the anthology, edited by Eric T. Reynolds (with Adam Nakama), and put out by Hadley Rille Books, is called BARREN WORLDS.  Right now it’s scheduled for a February-March 2008 release, and the anthology is themed.  Worlds which are barren or void of life. There’s another anthology, which runs in a similar vein, entitled: Desolate Places.

Naturally, when it’s released I’ll post ordering info, author line-up, finalized cover, and any other pertinent stuff.  Probably the best thing about being part of these anthologies is that they’ve featured major players in the science fiction arena, and that they often get a nod from the SFWA.  They’ve been recommended for the Nebula Award, featuring such authors as James Van Pelt and Justin Stanchfield.

In other news, my short story collection from Sam’s Dot Publishing is coming along quite nicely.  So far seven brand new stories have been added to the 40,000+ word book, and it’s time for me to name it.  But what should I call it? Let’s find out together, shall we…?
